Wildlife Certification

We got our certification for Wildlife last week. Highly recommend Dan from Integrated Wildlife Management for his comprehensive studies of our property and his recommendations.

It's spring and there's lots of critters out and about lately. I've tagged a few here that I've seen in the past couple of days. None of ours have done any low flyovers NY lately....

I noticed the Painted Buntings are back - saw the first one on Saturday. And, I'm going to have to learn more about all the birds! You'll also see a brown-headed cow bird here (their song sounds like running water - so cool) and a Titmouse.

Also saw a copperhead (a baby) in the back garden while weeding the other day. I had to look it up to determine it was a copperhead. I'm still learning what species is what. It's the second one I've seen here - both were babies. I think that's very good thing! Interesting that the tail was green and looked like a little twig. Do they grow out of that? Found some info on them at http://www.texas-venomous.com/contortrix.html.

We do have feral pigs here. We assume they've had their latest checkups, so no swine flu.

Can't quite figure out how to get the photos to go where I want...I will leave that for another day.
